I bought my domain, I got my site up. You can see it at http://iauthoredit.com/. Its fairly simple in its current form, but eventually it will blossom into something more. I will be putting more works up there, and hopefully sometime soon I will start going at this writing thing with a whole heart. I can't spend the rest of my life behind a desk.

Big thanks to Stephen Roberts for the motivation to get this all going; of course without him I'd not be doing a lot of things right now.

Bad happen

leil: (Default)
Ok, I woke up this morning, and woke up a bit earlier than usual. I have a strange feeling something bad might happen today, something hugely bad. I don't know what, but something big, and bad might generally be going on at some point. Yeah. Seaking huge.

Nyquownd

leil: (Default)
Yeah, Nyquil worked last night, but in a strange way. I had some chest problems and congestion, which was largely sweated off during my workout at Kung Fu, but honestly, the stuff had a strange effect. I kept with my usual "wake up, leg spasms, sweat, back to sleep" routine but with each passing beat of my heart I felt the stuff pushing through my bloodstream. It was odd, as I knew that each pump was making me sleepy, but not enough to put me down. My metabolism was literally surpassing it.
Now, when your metabolic process eats Nyquil like cake that means something in your body is on fire. It has me a bit worried, but Stephen assures me this is normal for what I'm doing. My facial cyst has been eroded down to nothing naturally, which is a first since...well ever if I recall properly. It is still there a small bit, but it is largely gone. It took about 8 days to go but hey, I'm not complaining.
Back to the shitty job...I need this to end.

That's the question of the day today for me. I see a lot of people having kids, and not really liking it. Some aren't really fit to be parents, and some just plain don't give a damn even though they follow a careful script. The last bunch simply have too many kids and not enough income to support them at all. I find it odd though, after hearing about nine hours of bitching from individuals around me about kids, and when I pose the question "Why did you have kids?" they go blank, and then muster up some lame excuse.
Some state it was an "accident" and others state "to make my husband happy" or "because I did not want to miss my chance" and I think hard...and then I sigh...then I realize none of the people around me actually wanted kids at all, they just kind of "had some" at some point. I cannot fathom doing this. The lack of preparation, the mass stupidity, and general non-recognition of what the hell they were doing as "big acts" but it dawns on me this is the case nine times out of ten with humanity.
It is a wonder though that humanity hasn't been gobbled up by the evolutionary cycle. There's no license to have babies, and I do not know if there should be one - sometimes I think there should be, but I do not want to imagine a fine for having a kid or imprisoning someone's accidental parent, or worse forcing an abortion. In total though I see that people do not really rationally think - and even rationality can go out the window that would be ok - IF you can substantiate it. However, I can't. Not even one person said "Instinct" or "Because I was built to have them" or "to keep my genetic heritage going" etc, etc. Not one.
So either they are too prideful to admit they are that genetically shallow, or they never have fathomed to think down that path at all. In either event, it seems a bold lie that the people at my work place desired kids with any sort of predestined "goal" at all.

Menergy

leil: (Default)
This is the wrong day to have menergy. I have a lot of it. Tons of it. I can't sleep. I love Kung Fu, but man, this will to sleep is gone at night due to it. I can run through a wall right now. I'd line up like 1 hojillion ladies and plow them like a field, then run two more miles.

leil: (Default)
I can do this.

That's what I keep telling myself for these next two days. Some how, some way I need to get more time. Tonight was a prime example. Five PM - get off work - 5:29 PM arrive at home - 5:41 PM leave for Kung Fu - 5:52 PM arrive at Kung Fu - 8:22 PM leave Kung Fu - 8:39 PM arrive at parents - 9:20 Eat dinner - 10:00 PM leave parent's - 10:20 arrive home  - shower, and here I am now...11PM. Tomorrow is going to be this way as well, and the day will go by fast too.
I'd also like to comment that the ISO has sold out as a company bent on just advertising and marketing now, and is not an standards organization. They actually approved OOXML, but the text release has not been outed yet. Tomorrow it states it will announce that Microsoft's proprietary format will be a standard in history. This cements the permanence of Office as a shit software that will be around for a decade or more. They rigged the vote, legally speaking, and everyone knows it.
Groklaw has the whole story at http://groklaw.net/ . If the ISO approves this vote as valid, and free, and not bought off by M$ then they lose all credibility as a standards organization. Doesn't surprise me though that M$ bought this. Office was getting ready to fast go by the wayside in the future of computing - especially since we're all moving towards mobile computing. Soon. Soon it will be your time M$. Around 2010 I'll be able to laugh at the number of people switching to Macs. Dell will be gone, and HP will be bankrupted by people leaving in exodus for Touchable interface Macs. And those that don't will turn to Linux.
In any event, the end is nigh, despite the corrupt dealings involved.
leil: (Default)
This is the schedule I run when things are going really, really, badly. I'm on that schedule right now. I have about 1.9 million things to do before going out of town, and -39 hours to do them. This is the bad part about going on vacation. Fortunately for me I have some assistance in that I do have some friends and family in town, so I might have to ask for some help regarding locative - things.
Transportation is something I'm looking at now, and I think my folks want me to spend the night at their place on Wednesday. I have to go to Kung Fu as well as pack in that same night. I'm fearing that something might have to give, but I do not want to give up Kung Fu. I had to miss Monday unfortunately due to picking up my mom from the airport...which urked me.
So, here we go I guess.

These attacks on Bittorrent are futile. The bullies will never win the war and only end up alienating potential customers.
I had compiled this huge list of trackers in response to torrentspy being shut down. We need to stop being dependent on one or two large sites and spread around the hydra.

leil: (Kim Jae Hoon)
TODAY, was an epic day. Truly, the splendor that filled me today was one that was not easily surpassed, but it was. I was happy with how Kung Fu was turning out and riding that buzz was enough to make me happy. But, when I got to the convention this morning at 7:45 AM I realized I was witnessing something huge. There were 2,500+ people gathering. That number swelled to nearly 3,000 by midafternoon. I made friends with some attorneys - which promptly stated they'd write recommendations for me to get into law school potentially. That made me feel really, really good.
So what was historic about this occasion? The nearly 3,000 people that showed up in Denton's civic center WAS THE FIRST OF ITS KIND IN THE EXISTENCE OF DENTON COUNTY AND CITY.

We quelled the masses that were Hilary supporters and put them down like fires. It is unfortunate, but she will not be taking Denton in any kind of political way. Fortunately for me that means the person backing the people, not corporations wins out. Division inclusive though - I'm worried that some might go vote Republican like fools out of spite, or worse, not vote at all. It can be said though that this is just the way things are, and cannot be changed or swayed. It was kind of out of the ordinary though to see a group, after group, after group of Hilary supporter's to question every last detail that was upon them. They even challenged the nomination of the chair of the convention.
This chair is merely ornamental and goes to Austin. Ceremonially speaking it is usually the head of the Democratic Party for the county. Some how some shotgun toting fiends stepped in and decided to challenge the process and make it longer by moaning and calling motions that were fruitless. The worst part of it was that I do not even think half of the crowd realized what they were challenging. They specifically thought they were challenging him as a delegate, which he was not. He was a chair - which again has nothing to do with any delegate picking/choosing/presidential preference. Its just an "officiator" position. He's a politician for a living, therefore, the most qualified to officiate over things. Would you choose a cheese maker, a singer, a baker, or a fireman to put out a five alarm fire? That was basically the question posed by her supporters. So stupidity did not prevail at least, and the crowd finally picked him as the chair, and his right hand as the co-chair. Of course that meant another 35-50 mins added on to the 5 minute process.
Barring the confusion, the horde of people, and the general ubiquity of bitching from Hilary supporters, everything else was great. We had a good time, did a lot of walking, and a lot of talking. We discussed issues, passed real resolutions to pass on to Austin, and sent our Delegates onward. Issac Brown, our precinct chair is going to Austin. He lorded over three precincts in this regard, and I am now a decent friend to him - and I think his right hand who is named Matt as well. Matt was a key helper as he was doing phone calls non-stop, and also very even tempered. As they say in the business, "a guy who got shit done" at the end of it all. I think he deserves a prize from our precinct. Well, I hope he gets one.

So here's to history! Here's to Justice. Here's to the folly, beauty, intelligence, and absurdity of humanity!

I can't exactly state how good I feel after I go to Kung Fu. I'm a nerd, and THIS is my new nerd thing. Kung Fu. I'm so damnably blessed to have good friends who have shown me the light to something much, much greater than I thought possible with my body. Right now I'm happy I got approval to do five nights a week. My sifu states that its ok to bump it up to five nights a week, and I'm going to start learning the texts of Choy Li Fut as well.
All this is in addition to some research I'm starting in on myself regarding the art form. I'm gonna do like I do with anything I'm crazy about of course, WHICH IS BUY STUFF THAT HAS TO DO WITH IT. Mainly in this case, it will be books, and also I will be practicing on my own. The two nights I have off on the weekend though...sifu states to let my body REST a lot on those days. So I should do nothing, but chill, and nothing physical. It gives my brain a second to memorize techniques, and also gives my muscles (I have these things, they call them that) time to rebuild after stretching the living shit out of them from Yoga.
I think that's another thing - the Yoga class on its own is something I really enjoy, and find that it works me out more Kung Fu at certain intervals depending on what we're doing in class. I know next week though I'm gonna be pissed to miss Thursday and Friday! They are teaching punch/kick combinations to build reaction time, and I'll only get to go Monday thru Wednesday. I know some people state that its good to just do that - but not in my regimen. I want a bit more for my cash, and I think sifu realizes that I intend to embrace this head on.

DADDY'S BACK. Tonight was so much fun it hurt. It hurt so good I'm so going back tomorrow with Stephen. Then Friday, oh yeah, that's right, AGAIN. I'm gonna start going into work at 7AM just so I can get out at 4PM from now on to get to Kung Fu on-time. I'm pretty happy at the rate I'm getting my blocks down, now I just need to do one more thing: attend more classes.
I'm looking at ramping this up bigtime too, and getting it so that I'm in at least four nights a week. Its not like I'm doing much else anyway besides writing, and doing my Mage game. Kung Fu should be a primary focus for me right now as it is making me lose tons of fat, and I'm thinking that will lead to a variety of things. Maybe good, and maybe bad, but mostly good.

ON THAT NOTE IT IS TIME FOR ME TO ENJOY MY SPEAKERS, AS THEY ARE BLARING OCEANIC BY ABOVE AND BEYOND AT INSANE DECIBELZ. I'D CALL THEM INCREDCIBELS NOW INSTEAD OF DECIBELS.

OH MAI GOD. The BEST in audio, hands down! These are desktop speakers, and I just came home really fast before going to the doctor's office. Worth. Every. Penny. I found them on my back porch, as FedEx promises.

They're called the Bose Companion 2 speakers, and Apple was not lying. These are more powerful than some 5.1 digital surround setups. What's more is that there are only two speakers, and they kick out a LOT of BASS. A LOT. With this addition, my MacBeast is complete! Three gigs RAM + uber sound was the goal, and MAN I've hit both!

PERFECT for TRANCE. I can feel the air around them move as they produce PHAT BEATZ.

HOLY SHIT EDIT: I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE MY MAC ALL THE WAY TURNED UP, GOD THIS IS LOUD MY WALLS ARE SHAKING FROM MERE OBJECTS THE SIZE OF LUNCHBOXES. WTF. IM SHOUTING ON MY COMPUTER B/C I CAN'T HEAR MYSELF TYPE. GAHH.

The Site

leil: (Default)
I've been meaning to do it for a while, and Stephen only brought this up. I love my blog, as I have tended to it for years, but it is time to get a bit more pro, and get a website going. Some place where I can start putting my works is a great idea, and more over a place where I can collaborate with other authors - read people I know and the like - and get going on things.
There are plenty of sites out there that already do this, but overall, I need my own page. A place that focuses on me, and collaborations seems to be a good idea. So that's what I've been doing today really, that and shivering constantly. Looking into fiction sites, and looking on how to get my own page up and running with the help of my brother perhaps. I mean...he only builds sites for a living...which is something I think I should have done to start the day with, then again he's a busy man - best not to bother him at times.
I'll also start using this Twitter thing more...

Yeah, so now I just got done puking. And now my boss is pissed at me b/c I came to work sick, which blows. Then again, she knows I meant well. I'm also fucking missing Kung Fu, which ?Q#@q23r09jfoijq3rjio432o0ij432    09rew90kjnoaefjioawer. Ok that was me pounding my keyboard. Good day.

edit: Ok, so I'm thinking this fever might be affecting my logic. I just pulled a thermometer out of my mouth and it still says 100F. Which means I'm right back where I was yesterday. I feel fine. I can walk, and I can even do a situp or two. I just am contagious I figure, which is bad. I'm not hungry. I should eat though. Bryan is right on that one. I was going to attempt a work out today, but even Stephen said no. I'll have to make up for this though. If I can't workout today, then each day besides today and yesterday will need the workoutz. 4 sure.
I tend to do this though, backlash incredibly when I feel like I'm being denied. Its a strange sort of insanity. Then again, I'm fevered and watching Batman Begins getting angry that a fictional character is moving more than me at the moment. Blargh. Ok afk soup.

Day two of this damn fever, and throat issue, and it is bugging the hell out of me. The difference between yesterday and today, is that today I'm at work. I have to be really or else the world ends. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, but we'll see how today goes. I want to work out today, but I'm wondering if I should lay off considering I'm still holding a 99 temp.
Honestly I wish sickness was an easy two minute fix, but there's no band aid for it sigh.

Its not often I get sick with a fever. However, the times I get a fever it usually sucks. Now is one of those sucky times. I think the infinite cycle of hot and cold, coupled with the infinite cycle of wanting to sleep and restlessness turns me into a freakin' psycho. Then again, I've been told I am crazy anyway, but who's counting.
So today I'm cooped up in my apartment with three seasons of Arrested Development and so far I can say officially both love and hate the show at the same time. I want to shut it off, but can't b/c I'm worried I'll miss some both witty and slapstick like comedy. I just want to kill every character on the show save three though. I think that's the point of it...to make you both hate, and love humanity.
To me, its like the characters are all bacteria in a petri dish. When you look at them up close its pretty nasty, but when you watch them grow, and fester, and turn into an evolved form of pawn scum you can't help but thing 'HOW THE FUCK DID THIS HAPPEN?' so you watch the show. I hate being sick,  ugh.

Another issue I'm taking a stance on is whether or not each of these systems is relevant in the gaming market. The truth is right now: no. Only hardcore gamers want these systems. I'm maturing into an adult now, and quite frankly I'm not a proponent of hardcore gaming anymore. I write a lot, I think on politics, philosophy, play a tabletop RPG called Mage, I do Kung Fu: none of these activities leave a plentiful amount of time for me to sit down and start playing a game hardcore.
Honestly, I believe that this is the truth no matter what. I have, and always will be, someone that plays games for fun. The time in my life over the last four years or so where gaming stopped being fun and become an online addiction/living was kind of bad. It sapped me like some disease, and in the end I found that it was just bad. Bad for your mind, health, and balance in your personality. You've got to be a pretty fucked up person to just play games non-stop. I've stated this before, and honestly, I think it still holds true. A person needs a life, and more than ever this is true.
So that brings me to my argument: I do not think either console is great. I don't think any of them really makes casual gaming good, or makes playing media of any variety better than on a computer. Each is kind of weak in offering me a full-featured experience outside of the box when compared to a computer - barring that it plays video games better than a computer. I've had a lot of people debate me about this fact, but it is true: consoles have one the gaming war.
That being said, my Wii will continue to get my attention. I don't see high quality fun games out on either the 360 or the PS3 that mean me wanting to get it. Each game on the respective systems takes a decade to play, has a bad storyline, and more than that - isn't worth the time or money invested to make them. I can get my story fix in a book, my gaming fix by playing some Sonic the Hedgehog on a variety of systems, and I can get my computer needs on my Mac.
For now each system remains to me an overpriced garbage unit with no point besides some lengthy games with bad gameplay and lots of great graphics. And to me, if I want great graphics: I'LL JUST FUCKING GO OUTSIDE, WOW, ISN'T THIS HIGH DEF GRAFIXZ??

I've looked around, and I know that people have all been buying newer TVs these days, and I wonder why? At this point, and I mean now, I do not see what I've been looking for in a TV. It has to be about $500.00 top end, have a decent size (30"+) and not have a huge technological downside. Nothing I can see for that price really sizes up to anything acceptable.
I keep seeing people shelling out $1,000 for a television, and for as much as I watch TV - that's bullshit. I'm not paying that much money for a TV I intend to watch literally movies, and play video games on. I don't have cable, since I get all my news from the web, and most of my entertainment - no ALL - of my entertainment does not come from TV. There's not point to watching a sports game if you are not into sports, and national news is covered online. Therefore, I'm not really seeing the point. My generation was raised on television, and I think I'm one of the first to really just wholesale drop TV. There's nothing on television worth watching, and I'm sure as hell not about to spend money on an object that is going to beam data to me only about 1/5 of the time.
I think what bothers me the most right now is that HDTV's, LCD/plasma collectively speaking - both have drawbacks as far as buying a TV goes. For one, an LCD TV comes with an annoying "lag" that makes your vision of the picture blurry when viewing very fast imagery. It also totally messes up your video game experience as your button presses will be offset by the TV. I'm not a huge gamer, but the games I do play casually like Guitar Hero - are totally made useless by this problem. So go with a plasma you say? Well, yeah the plasma does solve the gaming issue, plasma also does have the solution for the "there is no black in LCD" problem as well.
However, plasma still is not future proofed. What does that mean? Well, plasma screen TVs do not come in 1080p, and if they do, then they are insanely expensive. Now, that being said there is not a lot of content in 1080p, and won't be for another ten years or so - it doesn't bode well for me if grab one up now and content does come flying out of the woodwork. 1080p is really just 1920 x 1080 pixels of resolution, which is what people keep referencing in "SUPER HI-DEF" shit.
If I was forced to pick between the two, I'd certainly get a plasma, but due to the nature of technology, and where television is about to be heading I'll stay my hand for about another year or two at least. I want prices to come down, and I want sizes to become more bang for the buck, and I want to see both plasma and LCD screen TVs get better. They just are "beta" stage for my needs, and beta is not good enough. I need production models that are good for everything. Gaming, movies, and the occasional splurge into computing if I wanted.
